Let's Talk Invisalign

You may have heard about Invisalign from your family and friends. Maybe you’ve seen it on social media or read about it online. But you may still be wondering – what exactly is Invisalign, and how does it work?

Invisalign is an orthodontic & cosmetic treatment that’s made up of a series of removable aligners or thin plastic trays. The idea is to wear your Invisalign trays every day and night to apply constant pressure to your teeth, only taking them off to eat, drink, brush, and floss.

Even once we’re fully grown, our teeth continue to shift ever so slightly over time. Invisalign is designed to guide this movement and bring your teeth into alignment. Over the course of your treatment, your aligners will be swapped out and replaced with new ones to gradually straighten your teeth.

Transform your smile with Invisalign from $5,990 for both arches, only for a limited time.

Why our patients love Invisalign

As teenagers and especially as adults, we can feel a little bit embarrassed if we need to wear traditional braces. Invisalign trays are often preferred because they are completely clear and almost invisible. They look a little bit like a mouthguard and can blend in with your teeth and gums quite easily.

Unlike braces that are bonded to your teeth, you can pop your Invisalign trays in and out as you need. This makes it much easier to brush your teeth and clean your aligners, so you can keep your mouth nice and hygienic. As the trays are made of lightweight, soft plastic, they also feel far more comfortable against your teeth than metal and wires.

While there’s a lot to love about Invisalign, it’s not always the best option for everyone. At an initial consultation, one of our friendly dentists will take some photos of your teeth and assess whether you will be suited to Invisalign treatment.

If you decide to go ahead, here’s what will happen step by step.

1. Your impressions appointment.
After your first consult, we’ll book you in for another appointment to create a 3D image or impression of your teeth.

2. Getting your first set of aligners.
We will arrange for a custom set of aligners to be specifically made for your teeth. When you receive your first set, we will also provide you with a digital impression of what your final smile will look like.

3. Wearing your aligners and follow up visits.
You’ll need to wear each set of Invisalign trays for 1 to 2 weeks before moving on to the next one in your series. Every 4-6 weeks you’ll need to visit the clinic for follow up fitting appointments with your dentist.

4. Your final smile.
Every patient is unique and the number of aligners you need to straighten your teeth may be different to someone else. Depending on the condition of your teeth, you can expect to see the final result within 6-18 months.

Invisalign treatment may take between 6 to 18 months, depending on the condition of your teeth. Over the course of your treatment, your Invisalign trays will be swapped out and replaced with new ones at regular intervals, usually every 1 to 2 weeks.

Do I need to wear Invisalign aligners all day? Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

We recommend wearing your Invisalign aligners for 22 hours a day – even when you’re asleep! It’s absolutely fine to remove your aligners to clean them, to eat or drink, to brush and floss your teeth or if you’re going out for a special occasion.

How many appointments are required during the treatment? Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

There are 3 appointments to get you started – your initial consultation, your impressions appointment, and a follow up appointment where you’ll receive your first set of aligners as well as your digital impression of your future smile. Afterwards, you’ll need to visit us every 4-6 weeks throughout the duration of your treatment.

Is there any pain or discomfort with Invisalign aligners?Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

You may experience some discomfort for the first 2-3 days when you change to a new set of aligners. This is because your teeth are adjusting and moving into their new position. If you’re feeling particularly uncomfortable, you can easily manage your pain with over-the-counter paracetamol or ibuprofen.

How long until I start seeing results from my Invisalign treatment?Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

While the entire treatment may take 6 to 18 months, you will see your teeth start to move after your first month!

What can I eat and drink during my Invisalign treatment?Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

You can eat and drink whatever you like during your treatment, as long as you remove your aligners beforehand. We recommend rinsing your mouth and brushing your teeth after eating anything particularly sugary or drinking anything that could potentially stain your teeth, such as wine or coffee, before you pop your aligners back in. It’s completely fine to drink water while you are still wearing your aligners.

Will wearing Invisalign change the way I talk?Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

Some of our patients have experienced a slight lisp at first. Your mouth will gradually get used to the aligners and you should feel this effect disappear over time.

How much does Invisalign cost? Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

It generally costs around $7,500 to have Invisalign treatment on your top and bottom teeth, but this can be less depending on the condition of your teeth.

Will my teeth remain straight when I finish my Invisalign treatment? Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

After your Invisalign treatment is finished, you will receive a retainer. Your retainer will maintain the shape of your new smile after and only needs to be worn at night.

Is Invisalign as effective as traditional braces?Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

Absolutely, if Invisalign is a suitable option for you, the treatment will be just as effective as having fixed, traditional braces.
