You don’t need to apply or register for CDBS. If your child is eligible, Medicare will send you a letter.

Your child can get CDBS when:

  •  They are eligible for Medicare.
  •  They are between 2 and 17 years old for at least 1 day that year.
  •  You or they get an eligible payment at least once that year.
  •  You can be either the child’s parent or guardian.
What treatment is covered and is there a limit on treatment cost?Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

The Child Dental Benefit Scheme will cover up to $1,000 over 2 calendar years for basic dental services. The services covered include:

  • Check-ups
  • X-rays
  • Cleaning
  • Fissure sealing
  • Fillings
  • Root canals
  • Extractions

There are some restrictions for basic dental services. The Keys team will inform you of any item or time restrictions before starting any treatments.

What if my child turns 18 during the year; will they still be eligible, or does it stop from then?Icons/Icon_ArrowDown_48x48_Grey

If your child was 17 on the 1 January of that year then they will still be eligible until the end of the year provided there are still funds available.
